Getting Back in The Groove

As previously mentioned here my updates will be somewhat intermittent for a while as my wife and I are moving into our first grown up house next month.

Nevertheless, I’m still trying to get at least some painting and building in just to keep what skills I have vaguely in shape. As such, tonight I literally dusted off a part-finished Bastion that I’d more or less basedcoated and managed to get a reasonably productive half hour’s work done.

With the concrete effect more or less finished I made a start on the metal reinforced areas. While it’s no where near done, at least I’ve painted something instead of spending my free time packing boxes and planning how best to set up my new hobby cave.

More on that later 😉

Yes, I suck!

Those few regular readers of this pokey little blog will have noticed a complete lack of recent updates, this is because we’re in the process of moving house. As a result I’m not sure when I’ll next have time for any hobby, let along bloggage.

Things should settle down towards the end of the year so don’t worry, I’ll be back 🙂

Well, eventually. This evening I made a start on my Chaos Space Marine Raptors.

As you can see, progress has been slight as my wife and I are preparing to move house and hobby time is very limited but hopefully I’ll have some decent results to show soon.

Better Luck Next Time!

Last Saturday the October winner of GW Edinburgh’s monthly Battle of The Brush was announced. Unfortunately I didn’t win, however I think you’ll all agree that Roger Axelsson’s miniature is a worth winner. Seriously, it’s bloody marvelous!

As is traditional, the winner gets to pick the next month’s model. Roger’s gone for the WFB Empire Bright Wizard and while it’s a lovely model I don’t collect that army so there’s no way I can justify entering, especially with so much else on.

Nevertheless, the whole experience has really got me fired up so the next time a model is chosen that really grabs me (or I can find a way to justify it 😉 ), I’ll enter again.

Space Marine 2 & 3: The Games That Never Were

As those of you who battled through the endless ranks of Orks and Chaos know, THQ’s superlative third-person shoot and hack ’em up, Space Marine, ended on a cliffhanger with our hero Captain Titus, surrendering to the Inquisition on charges of heresy.

At the time, most assumed that this was to allow a sequel to explore Titus’s quest to prove his innocence and hopefully kick Leandros squarely in the nuts. However this was not to be as THQ went bust, most likely taking with it any realistic prospect of these games ever appearing.

That said, it appears that a pair of sequels were in the early stages of development. A couple of weeks ago, Penny Arcade talked to Raphael can Lierop, Space Marine’s lead developer, and he outlined the plot for both installments, you can read the article here.

While it’s interesting to know that they has a decent plan, it is somewhat of a kick to the guts that it’s likely that they’ll never be made. All is not lost as Bioware did obtain THQ’s catalogue and rights but if anything does eventually appear, it’s unlikely to feature Captain Titus, formerly of the Ultramarines.
