A week after starting this mini-project, I’m very pleased to say it’s finished.

The Heralds of Desolation capture an Imperial Manufactorum, who knows for what end?

The Heralds of Desolation capture an Imperial Manufactorum, who knows for what end?

I really enjoyed building and painting this terrain piece.  This was the first time I have used the Typhus Corrosion technical paint and, while it took a bit of getting used to, helped me create some nice rust effects.  I’ve also tried to keep the colours in keeping with the other Manufactorum terrain piece that I painted some time ago.

I think that this building will be great to use as an objective in some games, but it’s too small to use as a bastion.  Can’t wait to include it in my next game 🙂

I still have the rest of the Imperial Sector box to build, I hope to create another whole building as well as some ruins.

Imperial Knights Codex Cover Spotted

Looks like the cover for the highly anticipated Imperial Knights codex has started to make the rounds.

Assuming that this is legitimate it raises a number of interesting possibilities. It’s £5 less than a standard codex so we have to assume that it’ll be a slighter affair, but given that there’re no sign of additional knight-related kits in the rumour mill it remains to be seen just what else they can put into this book to make it worth a quarter of a ton. New missions maybe?

In any case, we’ll find out soon enough.

Manufactorum – WIP 3

Almost finished this mini-project.

The details, such that they are, are more or less done. While it’s very tempting to go overboard, I’m trying to keep it fairly simple so as not to detract from my armies’ models.

That said, I’m going to experiment for the first time with the Typhus Corrosion technical paint. Looking forward to it.

Manufactorum – WIP 2

Yesterday I finished basing and undercoating my new Manufactorum and today I spent a relaxing half hour drybrushing it with my last dregs of Boltgun Metal.

That’s all for tonight but since I’m on holiday this week, I imagine I’ll make some more progress tomorrow.

Multi-Part Plastic Hellbrutes Spotted?

This evening I came across these pictures on the internet. Remember these are unconfirmed so the usual rumour provisos apply.

Are these legit? Well they certainly look so, and the publication appears to be a forthcoming issue of Warhammer Visions.

I’m a massive Dreadnought Whore so I’ll definitely getting some to add to my kit bashed Hellbrute two Dark Vengeance minis.

Manufactorum – WIP 1

Not bad for a couple of hours. As well as four Manufactorum sprues worth of walls, I also used some plasticard to block the open windows and a spare Modular Movement tray for the roof.

I also left a couple of gaps to enable walkways to be attached later to link this to future buildings. You can also see some gargoyles which will help support them when they’re in place.

All that’s left to do is base it, I have some MDF that I’ll cut to size this evening, and then it’s on to the painting.

And so it begins…

After a gap of at least two years, I’m finally getting more scenery built. I picked up an Imperial Sector box ages ago (when it was considerably cheaper!) but never really got round to doing anything with it. I also picked up a few other IS sprues on eBay along the way.

This evening I’m going to try to build a whole manufactorum. Not a big one, more a tool shop than a Titan assembly facility.

This is the first completely new project since moving to the new house in December. I’ll stop pissing about now and get on with it 😉

Mutated Marines

After seven months, a change of job and the purchase of a house, my Mutated Marines are finally finished!  I started this project back in July shortly after having my arse handed to me by contributor and friend of Ramblings from The Trenches, Tim Chant and his Corpse God bothering Imperial lackeys.  I built these really quickly as I love the process of customising miniatures, one of the reasons I play Chaos and will inevitably collect an Ork horde at some point.

Here’s what my mob looked like at the end of July last year after I’d applied the base coat.

And here’s what they look like now 🙂

Some (more or less in focus) individual shots.

I absolutely loved working on these, can’t wait to try something similar with the rumoured new plastic kits.

Getting Back Into The Groove: Warriors of Chaos

I am very pleased to report that, not only have I started painting again but I’ve actually managed to finish something, and in time for Miniature Monday too!

These Warriors of Chaos was part of my sWarmonger Secret Santa and I’m very glad they’re finally finished.

While I’m not intending to start a WoC army, I thought I’d paint them as if I were and since I love painting a a Khorne Berserkers I thought I’d replicate the scheme. Maybe after my Bretonnians are done I’ll revisit these guys as I do want to eventually collect an evil Warhammer Fantasy army.
