Orc Lineman

This is only second greenskin model I’ve ever painted to completion and I have to say I enjoyed it.

I decided to paint up my Orc team in the colours of the Orcland Raiders because puns and also because I’ve never painted a yellow colour scheme. I think I’ve done alright, my aim is to get the linemen and maybe a specialist or two done by the end of the weekend.

Screamers of Tzeentch

I’m attending an Age of Sigmar doubles tournament in August so I decided to get my finger out and get some of my daemonic backlog sorted. First on the list is the very easy to paint Screamers.

These three took less than a couple of hours from sprue to finish, somehow I doubt the rest will be that easy…

The Nuln Oilers

It’s been five months less a day since my last post, the longest gap in this pokey little blog’s inglorious existance.  Why the unwanted hiatus?  There were a number of reasons that not just stopped me posting, but also stopped me painting and gaming.

First of all work got very busy, trying to launch what might be our area’s last fund using European Union money (for now anyway) took a hell of a lot of effort and very long days not just in the office but travelling round the country.  Secondly, our younger cat Hervör was diagnosed with terminal cancer.  She passed away last month which meant that anything hobby-related was understandibly far from my mind 😦  Finally, our bloody bath’s waste water pipe sprung a leak and wrecked both the bathroom and our kitchen below.  As I’m writing this I can hear the builders rebuilding our bathroom and hopefully things will be back to normal by the end of the week.

Things finally calmed down about a month ago and I soon found myself itching to dust off my painting station and get started on something, anything.  As I’d decided on the colour scheme for my Human Blood Bowl team I thought it best to finish something.  So without further ado, I’m proud to present The Nuln Oilers!

Now, onto some Tzeentch deamons before I return to my Orc and Skaven teams…

My first Blood Bowl Miniature in 21 Years!

It’s been a while hasn’t it, read readers?

Truth is I’ve been absolutely rammed at work and long days coupled with the stresses associated with the project I’m currently working on mean that I was in close to zero mood to do anything other than collapse in front of a DVD box set.

Anyhoo, the long-overdue revival of Blood Bowl has got me well and truly back into the swing of things.  Thus far I’ve built up the two starter teams of Humans and Orcs, as well as the two Forge World Referees.  Not only that, but I’ve an on-sprue Skaven team to do as well!

Today I painted up the first model for my human team.  It’s not perfect and I can see a couple of areas to touch up in the photo, but here he is.

I still don’t know what to call my new team.   My old human team from ’93 was the Averland Angels, but I’d like something punchier this time round.  Tomorrow I’m going to pour over the fluff in my old Warhammer Fantasy Battle 8th edition rule book and see what I can see.

It’s so very good to be back 🙂

Forgefiend

As promised in my last post, I’ve returned to my Drawer of Shame and resurrected another minute I started all too long ago.

I started this little beastie in August 2013, it was the first time I used the then-new Citadel Colour Sprays and I even blogged about it.  I quickly grew frustrated with this project as I’d made a schoolboy error in fully assembling the kit before painting.  As a result I gave up with but a single Ectoplasma Cannon painted and it languished in The Drawer for over three years.

Until last week.

I’m so very glad that I managed to finish this guy, I think as a reward I’ll start on something totally new before venturing back into my long and inglorious history of half-finished projects.

Possessed Chaos Space Marines

Here’s a tale I’m sure many veteran wargamers are all too familiar with.  Back in 2013, I bought a box of Possessed Chaos Space Marines with some left over birthday money.  They then went to the back of the queue as I had so many projects on.

In early 2014, shortly after my wife and I bought our house, I remembered I still had these chaps on ice so I released them from their sprue prison and started to paint them.  I then got bored, moved on to another project then picked them up again four months later.  This is the state in which they remained, languishing in my Drawer of Shame, until two days ago.

You see, I have a 3,000 point game against Trenchmate Tim tomorrow (it’s a Scottish holiday) and I thought I’d bring out some new units.  Fortunately, my wife’s been working all weekend (she has a looming deadline) so I’ve escaped chore-free and I’ve been able to dedicate this free time into finally finishing these gents.

This is alas, not the longest-neglected project residing in my Drawer of Shame, I plan to resurrect a couple more over the coming weeks.

Plague Knight

Today I finished the second Knight from the Renegade box I got for my birthday a few months back.  As I painted the first knight as a filthy loyalist, I decided to give my Chaos army some love.  While I’ve yet to give this war machine a specific name, I think Plague Knight fits for now.

I’ll be unleashing him in a 3,000 pointer on Monday, hope he makes the Grandfather proud!
