Some Chaos at Work
Recently my team moved to a different part of the office, we even got new not in any way hideous carpets. As such, I decided to bring in a few models to sit on my desk to both inspire my creativity and advertise to all and sundry my wargamer credentials.
Here’s my new desk.
And here’s a close-up of my monitor stand.
Veteran readers may remember that these models were my 2013 Warmongers Secret Santa gift. Before I moved jobs I used to have some old Cadians and Eldar Guardians that I’d previously used to test out colour schemes but they were really poorly painted and didn’t really reflect what I’m capable of.
Plus hopefully I can channel some of the, erm, straightforwardness, of Khorne in my daily tasks. Either that or I’ll start reaping skulls in the greater Leith area…
Daemonic Reinforcements Part One: Bloodletters of Khorne
After finishing my Daemon Prince last month, I thought it only appropriate to get some lesser daemons for him to summon. My plan is to buy and paint a unit a month until I have one for each of the four Chaos Gods.
First up, some Bloodletters.
I’ve always wanted some of these since I first started dabbling in Chaos a few years ago. The paint job was a cut down version I used on my Daemon Prince but I think it works.
New month, some Horrors 🙂
Getting Back Into The Groove: Warriors of Chaos
I am very pleased to report that, not only have I started painting again but I’ve actually managed to finish something, and in time for Miniature Monday too!
These Warriors of Chaos was part of my sWarmonger Secret Santa and I’m very glad they’re finally finished.
While I’m not intending to start a WoC army, I thought I’d paint them as if I were and since I love painting a a Khorne Berserkers I thought I’d replicate the scheme. Maybe after my Bretonnians are done I’ll revisit these guys as I do want to eventually collect an evil Warhammer Fantasy army.
Is that what I think it is‽
Is it?
YES IT BLOODY IS!!!
After nearly a month and a half, and only five weeks after we moved house, I’m finally painting again 🙂
First off I’m going to finish the Khorne Warriors of Chaos I received as part of my Warmonger Secret Santa and after that hopefully finish my Chaos Marines. It feels so good to finally get back to this!
Khârn The Betrayer
Somewhat later than I’d anticipated but I’ve finally finished Khârn.
As is clear, I stuck fairly close to the classic Khârn look but darkened the tone slightly to fit with my Berserkers. I thoroughly enjoyed painting this chap, I’m really looking forward to adding more of his mates to my army.
Khârn you dig it?
I’d say that’ll be the last Khârn-related pun but you know I’l lying 😉 Anyway, today I started work on the first character for my Chaos Marines and it had to be Khârn. While my Heralds of Desolation are (more or less) a Chaos Undivided mob, I love the background of the former Warhound Legion Captain not to use him.
As you can see, I’ve only just begun construction but thus far I’m impressed. Some people don’t know that this model first appeared in 1995 during the prime of the game’s second edition, while many models have been quite righty superseded, I think that this sculpt stands the test of time.
Finecast has definitely given the old boy a new lease of life. Many do complain about the far too frequent casting errors and yes this model was not perfect, there was a medium sized bubble on the torso but nothing that couldn’t been repaired with some Green Stuff and some patience. That said, the details were crisp and there was only a small amount of flash to clean.
I’m somewhat busy tonight so full assembly will have to wait for tomorrow. Can I get it ready for Miniature Monday?
Yes I Khârn!
(Still not sorry!)
New Projects!
Even though I promised myself I’d get my Chaos Lord in Terminator Armour done this weekend, the thought of painting more blue didn’t really appeal. Fortunately I have a few boxes of stuff I got at Christmas still unassembled so I decided to make a start on my first Imperial Bastion and some Khorne Berserkers.
The Bastion took a lot longer to build than I’d anticipated so I was only able to undercoat it. Luckily I was able to make a bit more progress with the Khornate infantry.
I based them with (surprise, surprise) Khone Red before washing with Carroburg Crimson. I’m thinking about edging with Screaming Bell then glazing with Nuln Oil. I’ll give it a shot tomorrow.
