Lord of Blights
Been a slow start to this year, got hit by Covid pretty hard (yes, Iβm vaccinated), so itβs somewhat appropriate that my first completed mini is a Nurgle Maggotkin Lord of Blights!

Lord of Plagues
Finally, my self-portrait is done π

I’ve wanted to paint one of these since it came out about ten(?) years ago. Hopefully this will help me get the rest of my Nurgle stuff finished.
The Shambling Horde 2: Shamble Harder
Long-suffering readers (hi, you two!) may remember that as part of my Fifty Day Nurgle Challenge back in 2018, I managed to paint up forty Poxwalkers. Since then I acquired three more sprues from Trenchmate Tim from his Conquest sub and over the past week I’ve slapped some paint on.
If you add in the six I painted back in 2017, that gives me enough for three full squads with four models to spare.Β More than enough to make Grandfather pleased!
I’ll probably revist them at some point down the line, I love the idea of fielding over one hundred of these chaps π
Myphitic Blight-haulers
Following on from yesterday’s post, here’s the second unit I managed to compete.
Some of you may remember that in my Fifty Day Nurgle Challenge from last year, I painted up my first Myphitic Blight-hauler, now finally I have completed the squad π
And, of course, a family photo!
Please come back tomorrow for the thrid and final unit I managed to finish!
Plagueburst Crawler
Okay, okay, I know this is not a Necron unit – but I have a really good excuse!
Last Friday I had arranged a game with my mate Bruce (of Games and Theory), who happens to be the husband of one of my childhood friends (small world etc…).Β Given that there was no way I’d be able to get my Necron force ready in time, I decided to park my shiny chaps and return to my… less-shiny chaps and get a few more units ready.
I had a long-overdue week off work and with my wife’s permission, I was able to devote the first three and a half days to getting this and a couple more units ready.
I’ll post up the other units over the next couple of days, and if I can make sense of the photos from the game, maybe some kind of battle report.
The Rotspawn!
He’s done!
I lovedΒ working on this model, it’s only the second FW model I’ve completed but I think i’m hooked!
Plus, this means that for the first time ever I have a full sixteen player Blood Bowl team ready for action π
Blood Bowl Six Nations – Les Escargots Putrides (France/Nurgle)
Towards the end of last year I was invited to participate in a Rugby Six Nations themed Blood Bowl tournament.Β For those of you who don’t know what the Six Nations are, it’s an annual Rugby Union competition featuring England, France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales that’s played in February and March.
It was determined that the following BB races would represent the teams:
- England – Skaven
- France – Chaos
- Ireland – Orcs
- Italy – Humans
- Scotland – Dwarves
- Wales – Elves
I drew France so I had the option of a basic Chaos or a Nurgle team and given my recent hobby track record, I went for the latter π
And with one notable exception* here they are!
*I’m sure you’ve noticed the absence of player number one.Β I’m saving that for a Rotspawn, assuming that FW ever release it π¦
The tournament’s currently underway, the first two games have been played and the next are scheduled for the middle of March.Β I’ll do a write-up once its over.
I also hope to persuade the other participants to share their teams here, watch this space!
Fifty Day Nurgle Challenge – Day 50: DONE!!!!!
I really can’t believe it, not only have I finished my army in time for Saturday’s tournament, I actually finished within the fifty days I arbritrarily set for the task!
Today I finished my Lord of Contagion.
I actually did it!Β I’m still in shock. π
Fifty Day Nurgle Challenge – Day 49: A Spell is Cast
Yes, this should have gone up yesterday but it’s only 17 or so minutes late so screw you!
Anyway, I managed to finish the Malignant Plaguecaster today (yesterday, whatever) so that leaves me with the Lord of Contageon to finish off tomorrow.Β Plus I have an extra day if I need it since the tournament’s on Saturday.
Fifty Day Nurgle Challenge – Day 48: The Little Plague Engines That Could
Aren’t they so sweet?
This is my second Bloat-Drone and first Myphitic Blight-Hauler.Β I loved painting these however I found the ‘easy build’ hauler a bit of a chore to put together.Β I ended up snipping off the majority of the tabs in order to get the bits to line up.
Anyway, it’s a lesson learned for the next two.
I may be feeling the effects of this challenge but I’m almost done. Two* days left and only two models to do and both are getting close to completion.
*There are actually three days until the tournament, but I prefer round numbered challenges.Β Not that I need the extra day, honest….
