The 2015 #WAACChallenge – Part 1: Model Acquired

This year I’ve decided to take part in the WAAC Challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research.  The rules are simple: buy a cheap second hand model for £5 or less, paint and sell it within six weeks with all the profit going to the charity.  You can read the full rules on Dave’s blog here.

Today I managed to win this ‘Ork Boss’ on eBay.

eBay Ork Boss 01

eBay Ork Boss 02

I’m fairly certain that this is one of the old Ork Boyz from the Assault on Black Reach box set.  Nevertheless, I bought it as an Ork Boss and that’s how I’ll sell it, once certain modifications are made to improve its bossiness…

Well, well, well, this is interesting. Warseer have published what is apparently a list of the forthcoming 40K and Hobbit releases from GW. You can see it here.

Take some time to look at this, then look at it again. :-O

I think my wallet’s going to be very unhappy with me!

The Fast and The Furious

Over on Of Orks, and Ogres there’s a really great post about an interesting variant of 40K.

40K in 40 Minutes

The rules are as follows:

  • 400 Points per side
  • 1+ Troop
  • 0-1 of each other type in the FOC
  • No vehicles with combined armour value of 33 or more
  • No models with 2+ armour saves
  • No models with 3 wounds or more
  • All games are Capture and Control with the intention of playing 7 games in a single day

I think this is a fantastic idea, while Killteam is a fun diversion (even if it’s in denial that it’s basically Necro) I think that 40 in 40 as it shall henceforth be known has more potential and certainly sounds like it will be a more enjoyable playing experience.

Anyway, you can read more about 3mpecee’s preparations, including some excellent background fluff for his Orks here and also how he got on here.
