White Dwarf Subscriptions to Return?

04/21/2015 Leave a comment

This evening on my way home from work I popped into my local GW to pick up the latest issue of White Dwarf.

As the shop was about to close for the day and all the Normals were out enjoying the sunny early evening I stayed for a few minutes chatting to the store manager. He told me that he’d heard that a subscription service for the weekly magazine could be appearing very soon.

Again, take this with the traditional Plastic Thunderhawk full of salt but if anyone is likely to have wind of these things then it’s GW’s Black Shirts.

Hidden In Plain Sight? – Potential Plastic Vendetta Kit

03/15/2014 2 comments

GW has been increasingly putting subtle hints about future releases in their publications for some time now. Recent(ish) examples being the Wall of Martyrs defence lines in the Chaos Space Marine Codex and the Astra Militarum Tauros in the Tyranid Codex.

Following this, in this week’s White Dwarf we have these pictures.

Now this could be the current Forge World Vendetta upgrade kit for the existing Imperial Guard Valkyrie kit however if I recall, there was a rumour a while ago suggesting that the Vendetta option would be included in a re-released Valkyrie kit which would accompany the Astra Militarum Codex.

In any case, we’ll find out soon enough.

Astra Militarum Leaks – Ogryns, Bullgryns and a Hydra

The internet has been abuzz with some pictures of the forthcoming Astra Militarum (eventually I’ll get used to the name) new dual plastic kit that finally brings Ogryns back into the game without the need for one to take out a second mortgage. They can also be built as a more heavily armoured Bullgryn variant.

The photos appear to be from a forthcoming Warhammer Visions edition, I suspect the May one. Here they are.

Also appearing is the first ever fully plastic Hydra Flak Tank. As an unapologetic Tread Head I’ll certainly be getting a few of these babies!

Imperial Knights Codex Cover Spotted

02/25/2014 Leave a comment

Looks like the cover for the highly anticipated Imperial Knights codex has started to make the rounds.

Assuming that this is legitimate it raises a number of interesting possibilities. It’s £5 less than a standard codex so we have to assume that it’ll be a slighter affair, but given that there’re no sign of additional knight-related kits in the rumour mill it remains to be seen just what else they can put into this book to make it worth a quarter of a ton. New missions maybe?

In any case, we’ll find out soon enough.

Multi-Part Plastic Hellbrutes Spotted?

This evening I came across these pictures on the internet. Remember these are unconfirmed so the usual rumour provisos apply.

Are these legit? Well they certainly look so, and the publication appears to be a forthcoming issue of Warhammer Visions.

I’m a massive Dreadnought Whore so I’ll definitely getting some to add to my kit bashed Hellbrute two Dark Vengeance minis.

New Bretonnians Sooner Rather Than Later (or Never)?

A while ago I got all excited by the now-false rumour that GW would be updating my Warhammer Fantasy army of choice.

Recently there has been chatter hinting at the worrying possibility that my beloved knights’ days as a full army may be numbered. I took this with a grain of salt (as one must do with all rumours) but I was worried as no other Fantasy army really appeals to me.

These rumours have been in part fuelled by the recent withdrawal of key models from the GW website, their absence meaning that now new players cannot easily build legal armies.

Today I popped into my local GW during my lunch break to pick up the latest White Dwarf and got talking to one of the staffers about this situation and was told not to worry as the whole Bretonnian range is due for an update ‘soon’. He also hinted that there are new plastic knights on the horizon.

Again, what does ‘soon’ actually mean? We were told for years that the Dark Eldar were coming soon and look how long their second completely new codex took to arrive.

While this doesn’t completely allay my fears, at least it gives me some (hopefully not) false hope that the most noble of all the armies may one day soon bring truth, justice and honour back to the Old World.

January 2014 GW Releases

Pins of War (certainly among others) have published what appears to be GW’s January release schedule. You can read their article here however if like me you’re feeling a bit lazy you can simply look below.

Got to say that I’m glad that the hungriest creatures this side of me at an all-you-can-eat buffet are finally getting some love as their last codex was an absolute travesty. I still have fond memories of Tyranid Attack / Advanced Space Crusade so I have a soft spot for these critters.

As it’s rumoured that the new Imperial Guard codex is due in March (Imperial Guard March, geddit?) I really hope that this paves the way for the return of the Genestealler Cults in the form of a codex supplement that combines the two armies. I live in hope!

Next up, Codex Space Marines?

In their regular rumour roundup, Bell of Lost Souls discuss reports that everyone’s favourite post-human super soldiers may have unceremoniously jumped ahead of the Eldar in the release queue.

Is this hot air, or can there be some substance to this? Certainly it’s inevitable that the favoured sons of the Emperor will be receive a refresh at least within the first half of the sixth edition’s life cycle so in many ways now’s as good a time as ever but I must say that I’d rather the Orks and Eldar get some love first as their codexes are certainly older.

That said, it’s undeniable that marines are the most popular army and certainly have been put at a slight disadvantage rules-wise compared to the Dark Angels and Chaos Marines. It would also be a guaranteed big seller and since GW’s financial year runs June to May this will certainly enhance their Q1 results.

Most tellingly though is the imminent release of the new Apocalypse ruleset, along with what looks like the long-anticipated plastic Thunderhawk, having a shiny new codex to take full advantage of this would certainly be of benefit.

Finally, such a move would hopefully determine the fate of the Black Templars. There have been conflicting rumours for that seems like forever that they might be re-absorbed back into the core marine codex and it would be good to finally lay these rumours to rest.

Bowled Over

I’m sorry, couldn’t resist.  But if this is right then I’m one very happy gamer for today I noticed that rumours have resurfaced that a new iteration of Blood Bowl may well be GW’s 2013 Mystery Box.

This is potentially awesome news, especially if it comes with the hinted CAD-designed plastic pitch.  My one reservation is that it will be a limited release along the lines of Dreadfleet and Space Hulk, but there’s no way GW will be that stupid…

A New (Old) Leman Russ Pattern?

12/21/2012 Leave a comment

Well this is interesting. Today Forge World uploaded this image.

20121221-225955.jpg

Now, on Facebook the mad genius that is Alan Bligh indicated that this image contains several new models that FW will be releasing over the coming year. Treadhead that I am, my eyes were immediately drawn to the Leman Russ in the foreground.

Just look at it, isn’t it beautiful? Not only does it appear to have a Predator Annihilator like twin linked Lascannon which is nice however just look at the tank’s lines and the old school targeter protruding from the right of the turret.

I think this could be a Heresy Era pattern. Even if it’s not I must have at least three.
