Necron Immortals
Finished these over the weekend. Far from my finest work, I have to confess the Age of Darkness box has been making sad eyes at me from the back of my hobby room, but I’m fairly happy with them.

Next on my table are some Imperial Fists in Mk IV armour, with some effort I may have then done this weekend.
Necron Deathmarks
After a very busy festive period followed by my wife’s birthday and a metric ton of work thanks to my day job, I’ve finally been able to devote some time to my ever-so-slowly-growing Necron army. Today I was able to finish this sniper-assassin squad.

I’ve tried to keep it simple but for the first time I’ve attempted to edge highlight the black carapace armour rather than taking my usual approach and drybrused it. I still need to work on getting the lines thinner and crisper, but it’s a start.
Denting the Living Metal Backlog
Once again, it’s been a while! Thanks to the ongoing worldwide pandemic my work has been extremely busy so I’ve not had as much time, indeed hardly any time, to get myself into a headspace where I’d be able to paint miniatures. However, even though the Situation is far from over, I’m begining to find enough time in the day to restart some projects and first off is my embryonic Necron army.
Just over a year ago, I was able to get a Lord and some troops ready and as I thought I’d be massively out of practice I decided to get another box of the now old style Warriors and Scarabs done to break myself back into things. I think I did ok.

I still have the contents of a Start Collecting box as well as the Apocalypse Outrider Detachment to start on, not to mention the Catacomb Command Barge my wife got me for my birthday last year (which started this project) and the contents of the 9th ed Indomitus launch box. I think I’m good for a while…
Necron Overlord
Here’s the first HQ unit for my Necron army.
As you can no doubt see, I have a lot of improvement to do regarding stuff like the voidblade edging. Fortunately I have a second one of these on sprue in a Start Collecting box , so I’ll get another stab at one sooner rather than later.
Necron Warriors (and friends)
I’ve finally finished the first squads for my accidental new army.
And, since the current box comes with Scarabs, I’ve actually managed to complete them too 🙂
As you can see, I’ve kept it traditional and have painted them in classic Sautekh Dynasty colours because I both love the scheme and the current Dynastic Protocols are awesome.
I’m putting the finishing touches to a couple of command units at the moment and I hope to share the results soon.
An Accidental New Army
It was my birthday near the start of June and my wonderful and extremely understanding wife bought me a 40K model.
As she knows me better than anyone and because she’s a professional artist, I trust that she’ll get me something that’s both cool and something that I’ll like to paint.
I also half-hoped that she’d get me something totally unexpected and I was not disappointed!
She got me a Necron Catacomb Command Barge!
This is cool for four reasons:
•1 – It’s a really cool model;
•2 – It will enable me to try out new painting techniques;
•3 – It’s from an army I don’t have, therefore…
•4 – I GET TO START A NEW ARMY TOTALLY GUILT FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, that’s what I’m doing 🙂
As I’ve never painted Necrons before, I picked up a box of on-spruce Warriors cheap on eBay. Tonight I managed to paint one.
Aside from the slightly botched assembly (he’s not hunched over), I think it went okay. Moreover, I really enjoyed the process so I’m looking forward to getting his mates done and, hopefully, on the table sooner rather than later.
