The 2015 #WAACChallenge – Part 5: For Sale!

The auction is now live, and just within the deadline.

Before I listed it I decided to take some better photos which I hope might make it sell better.

I’ve also decided to bend the rules of the challenge somewhat.  Since I only paid £2 for this model I will be donating all of the sale price to Macmillan Cancer Support.

Please consider bidding, you can view the lot here.  Thank you.

The 2015 #WAACChallenge – Part 4: Done!

Can’t believe that this took me almost a month, although to be fair I took a couple weeks off to celebrate my fifth wedding anniversary and work has been more hectic than usual.  Nevertheless, it’s done!

I really enjoyed painting this, so much so that it’s going to be a wrench to sell it, but it’s for a good cause!  I fear however that I may have started on the slippery slope towards getting an Ork army…

The auction will start this coming Sunday, I’ll put something up when it’s live.

The 2015 #WAACChallenge – Part 3: Painting in Progress

It’s slowly coming together.

Ork In Progress 01

As you can see, I’m keeping the colours fairly traditional.  Now that (most) of the base coat is in place I have quite a lot of highlighting to do, as well as to decide how weathered and rusty to make his weapons and armour.

Originally I’d planned to devote most of this weekend to him but a Saturday movie marathon with my wife took preference 🙂  Nevertheless, I’m confident of meeting the six week deadline.

The 2015 #WAACChallenge – Part 2: Model Built (almost)

It’s here!

I spent a little time today building this guy.

The resin base is from the 40K Basing Kit, I still need to put some more Green Stuff down to fully cover the gap.

As well as drilling the barrel, I’ve added a Space Marine targeter to help him shoot vaguely straight.

I decided against attaching the model to the base at this point and, once done, I’ll pin it in place for added resilience.

I was also wrong about this model being a standard Ork Boy, from what looks like an old White Dwarf or Citadel Catalogue, he appears to be a Nob.

That might help with the selling price, right?

The 2015 #WAACChallenge – Part 1: Model Acquired

This year I’ve decided to take part in the WAAC Challenge in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research.  The rules are simple: buy a cheap second hand model for £5 or less, paint and sell it within six weeks with all the profit going to the charity.  You can read the full rules on Dave’s blog here.

Today I managed to win this ‘Ork Boss’ on eBay.

I’m fairly certain that this is one of the old Ork Boyz from the Assault on Black Reach box set.  Nevertheless, I bought it as an Ork Boss and that’s how I’ll sell it, once certain modifications are made to improve its bossiness…
